Treasures

Mon1

We had my sweet goddoggie Miss Daisy for the weekend. Look what her folks brought me back from their trip when they picked her up yesterday, the beautiful begonia in the photo above.

The first thing Taco wanted to do when he saw it was eat it, so the plant makes its home on the back porch, away from plant-loving Taco. It looks really pretty out there, I think.

My sister Ramey and I made a trip to the thrift store on Saturday morning, the first time I had been in months. Found a great treasure to add to the other wicker pieces on my back porch, the rocker in the photo above. Now if I can just find a wicker settee and maybe a coffee table, my set will be complete.

I have to make a seat cushion for the chair. When I do, I'll make a matching one for the other wicker rocker that neighbors Paul and Karen gave me from their beach condo--the one you can see part of in the first photo. I'm thinking maybe blue denim or chambray for the cushions--but that could change by the time I get around to making them. Presently, the first rocker has an ugly pale green cushion. The new one doesn't have a cushion at all, but it's still right comfy for sitting.

Your thrift shop find was great. Nothing looks quite like the airiness of white wicker furniture on a porch.
Makes you want to sit down and visit a bit.

Love the rocker. Old Time Pottery has cushions for wicker pieces. They may be less expensive than trying to make some. Good luck!!

Love your beautiful begonia in its pretty blue pot! How thoughtful of Daisy's folks to bring it to you as thanks for your dog-sitting assistance.

I hear you on having a cat who regards potted plants or flowers in vase as salad ready for consumption by said cat. Our Tom is the same way and all plants spend nights up high or in my sewing room behind its screen door (with a hook/eye closure to thwart cats!).

What a charming wicker rocker was awaiting you on your thrifting outing! It will certainly be a delight to choose fabric for its cushion and for the other wicker chair, too. Good luck in the hunt for the wicker settee and coffee table to complete the delightful seating arrangement for your porch. Do I remember it's a screened porch? Hope so! Get the pitchers of lemonade and sweet tea ready!

Today is our 41st wedding anniversary and I cannot believe it even tho I've been here for every day of it. Where did the time go?

Hugs!
