Kitty Cat Condo

When we picked up the kittens from the spray/neuter clinic last month, along with two gloriously non-fertile, though ticked off, kitties, we got a most generous coupon for a purchase at a nearby pet supply store. Jesse knew just what we wanted to spend it on. No, not kitty food or kitty litter--a kitty condo. He felt that Taco and Bella needed such a structure in order to keep them entertained. The furniture, cabinets, sinks, bathtubs, blinds, and curtains were not enough, in his opinion. So yesterday afternoon, we went shopping and came home with a kitty condo.

Condo1
After lugging the unassembled condo upstairs, Jesse had to put it together, while many eyes looked on.

Condo2
"Are you done yet?" Taco wants to know.

Condo3
"He's not done yet," Taco reports.

Condo4
"When will it be finished?" inquires Miss Bella.

Condo5
"When do we eat?" Sophie wants to know.

Condo7
"Just don't nobody touch my bone," warns Skipper.

Condo8
"I call top bunk!" announces Bella.
"Ah nuts," pouts Taco.

Condo9
Two sweet kitties enjoyed a good night's sleep atop their new condo.

Ah, an enhanced Home Sweet Home, cat style! What could be better? Taco and Bella can be on high, keeping an eye on their kingdom!

Several years ago Rob built something similar using Sonotubes (those heavy cardboard concrete forms) he covered with low loop carpet. He also covered a 4'x4' 10' post with the carpet and attached 3 carpet covered platforms and two of the Sonotuble tunnels to it. Boots and Tom have worn/scratched some of the carpet until it's threadbare, have never been inside the tubes but use them as bouncy steps or resting places, and use this many times a day. We've wondered where we could put a 2nd such creation so both cats can be "top dog" on their separate posts.

It would never do for our cats to be in such close proximity as Taco and Bella are on the dual condo you chose. Sadly, Boots hasn't liked Tom since she was "fixed" and hisses or attacks every time she sees him. Tom is twice her size and boxes back!

Hugs!

Susan, my daughter and my grandson both have these 'condos' for their cats and they absolutely adore them (the cats, no the kids, lol) My daughter hangs fun toys from areas around it and her cat (named Mouse) is never short on entertainment...unless of course her favorite toy, a carrot with green feathers in the top, gets lost or worn out. I think she is on her third one in less than 6 months. Fortunately, my daughter is the GM of a Petco store so she always knows where she can buy the very same carrot when the need arises! Hugs...

I was getting so tickled reading your 'captions', I could barely look at the photos! Had to go back & read the entire post again! Such cute pets! Let's see how long it takes Skipper to find a way to get up there & sit on those ledges! LOL!

Susan...when I read your list of places and things the cats already have to climb and be on, I actually laughed out loud (several times). Being a cat lady for all my life it just hit me in the right way. Thank you so much and bless you for turning your life around for the critters and Jesse...

Fantastic! Great photos and great narrative! Hoping the kitties are very happy in their new condo (and the curtains, couches, etc. get a break - LOL!)

They all look so happy, including your grandson. Great condo!
I'll be first in line to buy your book of cleverly captioned photos. :)
