Nine Patches, Two Kitties, and a Weird Dream

I've been considering some kind of very simple nine-patch configuration for the Vann-shirts quilt.

Besides for the plaid and striped shirts that I've already turned into 5" squares, I also have some solid chambray blue and some solid khaki that I can use to make nine patches. We'll see what develops.

The kitties came through their spaying and neutering yesterday just fine. But they're a bit out of sorts today. Bella just won't have anything to do with anybody, especially not with Taco. She won't even let him look at her. And Taco, well he just wants to be loved on and petted. I'm so glad that's over and they're on the road to recovery.

The much warned about severe storms were a bust here, although I understand some areas got horrible weather. Here it got very dark and rained a lot; and I heard a couple of claps of thunder. That was it. I'm not complaining, mind you.

I had the strangest, most irritating dream last night. I was trying to plan and arrange Vann's funeral, with the unasked-for help of various members of my family, my friends, his family, and his first wife's family. Settings included some huge restaurant with very poor lighting, a house where Vann and I had previously lived that someone had extremely made over, and a confusing funeral home. Also a road to somewhere (I knew at the time) the ten-mile length of which I had to walk. Don't know where my car was. I woke up more tired than when I went to bed.

And now, I sew.

I love 9-patch quilts! I think my favorite is a scrappy Snowball 9 Patch but you may remember I made a pink and green Single Irish Chain and love that quilt, too. Hope you have fun choosing which way to put your shirting blocks together.

Sorry about the disturbing and exhausting dream you had. Methinks you probably need a nap today.

When we had our Mama cat spayed after her kittens were 10 weeks old, something changed her personality and she hasn't liked her boy kitten since then. All these years later, she still hisses at Tom. It's sad to see.

When the storm rolled thru here last night both the rain and the wind were fierce. We lost electricity for a bit more than an hour.

Happy sewing!

Hugs!

Isn't is amazing Susan, how dreams can completely wear us out? I've had dreams of that sort and I always feel exhausted all day long after. Enjoy your sewing and I hope your kitties are back to their old selves very soon. Hugs...

Glad the kitties are doing well. When my Buttercup was spayed, she walked backwards for two days and was terribly frightened. Now she's just mean.

Susan, my friend Kim over at http://seeingstars-quilting.blogspot.com/ is putting together a quilt of shirts she got at a thrift store and it's going to be wonderful. Might be an idea for you, too.

Glad the kitties are done with that. It sure will make life simpler for you.

At Christmas time, Smokey Joe got his teeth cleaned for the first time. For cats, that involves a general anaesthetic. The vet warned me to keep him separated from Pumpkin for a day since Smokey would be out of sorts and Pumpkin would think he smelled funny and might want to fight. Well, of course, that was easier said than done and Smokey had his own ideas. But within 3 hours of reuniting them, Pumpkin was, in fact, noticing that Smokey smelled funny. So he gave his brother a bath to make him smell right again. It was so sweet. Glad your two are all fixed now.

Like my shape, I'm all BEHIND! But I HAVE been reading posts, just not always getting time to reply! Susan, I love your idea to quilt sweet Vann's shirts! My friend Viv makes teddy bears from the clothing of those who've crossed over & it's the same wonderful result of having something tangible of theirs to hold close. I wonder if Ms. Sophie will be especially partial to your quilt! She's such a sweet & sensitive doggy she just may park her lil' self on it immediately! I'm so glad Leeds DIDN'T get the yukky weather! Ray & I both were keeping our eyes peeled on your weather the other day! LOOOOOVE YOU!
