She Found It

Bella:TreeWell, Bella found the tiny little white tree. I caught her on top of the armoire yesterday, eating it. So no tree of any kind. But we have Christmas quilts that will stand in for trees. And I strung lights on my fireplace screen. So we are officially decorated.

I'm going to get me one of those squirt bottles, like some of you have recommended, when I go to the store today.

I had to make a quick run to the vet clinic yesterday afternoon. Skipper tore his dew claw somehow. I found him bleeding all over the carpet and licking his foot. I couldn't get the bleeding to stop and couldn't get him still enough to find out how much damage was done. So I quickly wrapped his foot the best I could in a bandage, put him in he car, and off we went.

After giving Mr. Skipper an examination, the vet assured me that all would be well. The bleeding had stopped. She trimmed his nails, told me to watch him, and sent us on our way.

On the way to the vet's office, I have to pass our elementary school. I was curious to see all the children and teachers outside, arranged in orderly lines. It was not time for school to be out, so I wondered if it was a fire drill.

But when I got a little way on up the street, I was met by what appeared to be every emergency vehicle in Leeds: fire trucks, ambulances, the works. But whatever the situation, it must have not been too bad. When we came back by the school, less than an hour later, there was no sign of trouble. Kids and teachers were back inside. No emergency vehicles in evidence.

But the this morning I hear on the tv news, that there has been a shooting at an elementary school near Danbury, Connecticut. An elementary school. And I think, that could have been our school. That's the second public shooting in two weeks. Will it ever end? Or will it just get worse?

Praying for everyone connected with Sandy Hook Elementary shooting: students, parents, teachers, the injured, police and emergency responders, and the shooter's family.

It's so sad that in today's world people can't even send their precious little children to school without fear. Every time we hear of this kind of thing happening I think we all wonder when will it stop??? I remember a passage in the Bible that says that in the last days, men's hearts will fail them for fear and it seems that day is here. Such a sad day for everyone. On a lighter note, I read on the internet that the best way to stop a cat from jumping up on furniture is to lay a clear piece of packaging tape sticky side up on your tables etc and when they jump up there it sticks to their feet and fur and scares them and it breaks them from jumping. Haven't tried it but it sounds like a good, harmless way to solve the problem. Have a blessed weekend Susan.

Love your fireplace!

Is the white tree a feather tree? If so, that's the allure for Bella and she would probably ignore a bottle brush tree.

The tragedy is Connecticut is another needless heartbreak for those affected directly and all others around the world. My prayers are with all, including the brother of the shooter who also lost his parents.

We need a group hug.
