I'm Cool

I know, I know. Where have I been? Right? This, I believe, is one of the longest stretches I've gone without posting a blog entry. But everything's okay. I don't know what happened. I've been real busy, and time has just slipped by without a blog post. Not only have I had emails from some of you in the last day, but I even had people come up to me at guild meeting yesterday wanting to know if everything was all right.

I really appreciate everyone's concern and friendship; and I promise to try to be much more punctual in the future.

Meantime, here are some photos from Birmingham Quilters Guild's November meeting yesterday. As you can see, conditions for photography are not good in our meeting room. We've grown so large, that it's difficult to get to the quilts for all the happy members occupying the room.

TagMy friends Mary and Sharon. Mary was disappointed that her name tag was turned around in this photo. So she turned her tag around, and I took another shot. But this one was so much better of these pretty ladies than the other, that I'm using it instead, and posting Mary's name tag here. It is a very pretty name tag that Mary made. I don't blame her for wanting it to show.

In our guild, each member is encouraged to wear a handmade name tag. Not only does that give new members help in getting to know everyone, it helps us more senior (and forgetful) members put names with faces. And everyone who wears a handmade name tag also gets a chance each month to win a prize drawing.

Now I'm going to go have a quick shower, a cup of tea, and then go and do my patriotic duty (which I'm happy to do) and vote. Hope you have all voted or plan to vote today before the polls close.

It's nice to meet Mary and Sharon! What a wonderful idea to have guild members create their own name tags and to give out prizes for wearing them.

The pictured quilts are glorious eye candy, each and every one. I like them all and the BOMs but the one that has me gobsmacked (too much BBC!) is the amazing yellow and purple quilt. How was that one made?? Are they pineapple log cabin blocks and ...?

We're just in from voting and, like you, consider our one votes our patriotic duty, an honor, and a priviledge. I also hope EVERYONE who is registered to vote will go out and make your voice heard by voting today, too! Polls usually close at 7pm in your time zone.

Am glad to know all is well. I missed you!

Hugs!

If you have a pattern for that block-of-the-month, I'd like to have it. I can't seem to get it right, free-hand. Of course I may never make the quilt, but I love the pattern

What wonderful quilts!! I'll be up near you this weekend for a mini retreat. Just quilting girls having a good time. I voted early this year, so that duty is taken care of.

We used to have our own quilted name tags, but a few years ago the powers that be decided to just have printed nametags because they are easier for old eyes to read than the varying sizes and styles on the quilted ones.
