Major change took place at the Yellow House over the weekend. My grandson moved in with me. At first I was very nervous about this. I've been living alone since Vann's death in 2009, almost three years ago. And to tell the truth, I enjoy my alone time, my privacy and freedom.
But after a couple of days, there have been no problems. Jesse has not encroached "on my space" and I don't think I've been in his way. I helped him get his bedroom set up; then we went to the grocery store and stocked up on stuff he needed. I think it's going to work out fine. He'll probably be here at least through the remainder of his fireman/emt training, until he can afford to get out on his own.
Meanwhile, I've been working on the kitchen block for my dollhouse quilt and watering flowers.

When I started digging through my stash for kitchen wallpaper fabric, I found a piece of this fly pint. That's it! I declared. That's my kitchen wallpaper. (I don't know, for some reason, I'm tickled at the idea of flies in the kitchen.) But I could only find the one piece, which had a hole in it (see hole in photo?). I don't know what made the hole. Well, obviously I did; but I mean, I don't know for what purpose or accident the hole was made. But I decided to use it, and put a big plate on the hutch shelf right over that hole. Voila!
Happy Monday to all.

It's wonderful that you gave place to your grandson. He looks like an awesome man and I bet he will be very helpful to you. I love the kitchen block for your quilt. You're just so creative!! Great idea about the flies and covering up that hole.
Happy Monday!

Whoot Whoot - good for you I am a great fan of all things grand (sons, daughters, cats, dogs) I am also a very big fan of all things firemen, emt, police, RCMP (national police in Canada), military, corrections - I think they all deserve a big hug an much support. I will add Jesse to my prayer list for my favourite heros. May you do well Jesse. I know the training is grueling and sometimes boring, but think it is great that your grandma can support you in your venture just as you have supported her in her new life.

We had my cousin (much younger) with us for 4+ years when he was in college and it was a wonderful time for all of us! He's all grown up and has a family of his own but he always tells us how much he appreciates what we did for him. He did as much for us as we may have for him...happy times!
