Binding Factors

Binding

My carpal tunnel is acting up and my hand is going numb every time I start stitching. But I have to finish binding "Love Birds" TODAY! I still have to make a friendship block before Monday and get my block of the month stuff together. And Sophie badly needs a bath. And I have two pots of lantana that want planting. And all the plants need watering.

Yesterday I finished making the binding and scalloped the edges of the quilt. I machine stitched the binding onto the quilt and started hand stitching it to the back. But by 10:00 last night, I could not longer see well enough to tell where the black binding ended and the black thread began, so I had to give it up. Started back this morning, and now my right hand is refusing to cooperate.

I thought I'd take a break and blog and maybe my hand will be better when I get back to the quilt binding. And I'm going to put my whatchamacallit on my hand--that thing I wear to sew when I'm having trouble with my hand. Can't remember what it's called. Not a brace, but a elasticized glove thingy with the fingers removed. It usually helps.

Oh, and I have finally figured out why I wasn't receiving email notification of blog comments. They were going to my spam folder for some reason. Since I hardly ever check my spam folder, I didn't know that until Typepad finally told me to check it and there they were. Now I just have to figure out how to stop them from going there. Anyway, now I can reply to your comments. I won't reply to each and every one, but to most I will.

Since hardly anybody was participating anymore, I've stopped posting the Friday Mr. Linky for your progress reports. But I hope all of you are sewing up a storm and getting those projects finished. Happy Friday, everyone.

Hope you get all the projects finished, don't fret too much, just work steady. I finished a UFO but gave it to a different person than first intended for.

If I lived closer I'd come and give you a helping hand. Just take it slow and steady Susan.

Susan,
I am not far away if you want me to come help you with the binding. I am serious! I hope your hands feel better soon. I can't seem to get much accomplished these days.
Hugs,
Donna

Here's to hiring someone to plant and water this one time - or call in family to this job for a promise of pizza and beer! The lantana and plants will thank you and you won't have used even one spoon.

I hear you on the achy wrists and the bother of black on black. I've told the boys they may like black, but it won't ever be a border or binding on a quilt. No way, no how - that ship has sailed!

When you find out the name of the whatchamacallit glove, please post the information.

Both in-laws are in rehab getting PT, OT, and speech therapy and I'm doing all of the laundry. Glub, glub! I fondly remember sewing ... but did buy the new issue of Quilt Sampler today!

Hugs!

I'm thinkin people are just "summer" buzy, maybe thats why they are not Linky-ing? We are still fighting the mites, so no sewing going on.
Hope your hands are better today....Take care
Gael

Susan,

Would you please email me your addy? I thought about you several wks ago and remembered I always felt better about things I'd remembered, AFTER I "talked" to you.

I volunteer at a retirement ctr 10 mi. from here and LOVE it. It's the ONE place in the entire state I would trust for a loved one to reside. The entire staff, right down to and including the security staff are SO friendly and helpful. The odd thing was "something" kept telling me, for about 2 yrs., to go THERE to volunteer. I kept putting it off until finally, one day, just so I could say "Been there, tried that!", I stopped and applied.

I laugh EVERY day I go there- as soon as I go in, there's my friend Norman, and we croak with laughter EVERY time we see and talk with ea. other. Probably THE best decision I've ever made in my life. A very distinct 2nd advantage is I'm learning ALOT about "Someone"- the retirement ctr is managed by a very special group of people that've been around a LONG, LONG time. More about that later.

Bruno, whom I think you suggested might be able to learn nudging a jingle bell with his nose when he needs to "go out", is 5. Weighs 60 lbs., which is exactly what I estimated he'd eventually become, the day I found him and looked at the size of his paws. (Somebody had just dumped him, he was "crying", I would've kept him regardless of his projected size!)
Our vet said he is half Lab, half Border collie. Spends part of every day trying to "herd" and "cut" the 2 cats. Odd, they don't seem to care for him telling them which way to go.

We have a grandaughter now, being raised by our older son, she's going to be 7 next month and lives in KS. She calls Jeff "Popa", he's her grandad. My son wanted a differently spelled "normal" name for her, he chose "Danyelle Elisabeth". Gotta go- have to get ready to go to Wallyworld. Yay! or Ugh!????

Later,

Donna W.

PS: That darned dog NEVER nudges the bells after we go to bed- he goes to THAT door, alright, but he KNOWS we can't hear the bells several rooms away, so he barks. HE can hear a dry leaf blow onto the front porch and he's off and running, barking "Are you friend or foe?"
