Mixed Results

I can't say that I've conquered my beetle problem yet, but it's a lot better. The bushes that I managed to spray with the pesticide before equipment failure are bug free. Not a one in sight as far as I can see. On the ones where I applied Ramey's salad dressing concoction, the results are more iffy. I found one dead bug, two bugs making whoopie, and several other live ones. But even on those bushes, there aren't nearly as many critters as before.

So now, I have to decide whether I want to try to apply more pesticide or salad dressing. Neither one was easy. I had a very difficult time getting the garlic powder mixture to spray. Maybe it was my sprayer. I don't know.

By the time I got my petunias planted, everything watered, and the garlic stuff applied, I was whupped shore 'nuff. I can't do much more of this flora husbandry, I can tell you that. I took a shower, ran three errands, came home and passed out of the couch for two hours, then got up and went to bed.

FOUND TREASURES
On a more bugless subject, the other day when I took "Love Birds" to Lena to be quilted, I made a stop at our favorite thrift store, which is very nearby Lena's house. It was a quick run-through, but I found two wonderful treasures. Here they are:

Sat1
Cross-stitched sampler in just the right colors for my living room

Sat3
It's not a Radio Flyer, but it is a little red wagon, and it's in much better condition that the one with the snap dragons down by the mailbox. I couldn't believe it when I saw this at the thrift store. It was $15, but well worth the price, I think.

Barbara asked whether or not I punched holes in the bottom of the other wagon. Well, Barb, I didn't need to. Almost the entire bottom of that wagon was rusted out when I found it on a neighbor's trash pile. But I loved it anyway, brought it home, and created a new bottom for it with some of that fibery stuff that you put in hanging baskets and flower pots. Works fine.  But while the new wagon's bottom is a little rusty, it has no holes at all, so I planted these wave petunias in pots before putting them in the wagon.

Sat4
Look how well my pink zinnias are doing. No bugs on them.

Sat5
More wave petunias

Now I'm going to return those faulty sprayer bottles of pesticide to Home Depot. I plan to keep my eyes closed and feel my way through this errand so I won't be tempted to buy more flowers that I'll have to plant.

So now, let's all go over to Beverly's to see what she's serving up for Pink Saturday.

Sounds like your ahead of the bugs so cheers for that!

Love your new treasures and methinks I may have to use my aunt's little red wagon for something similar.

Hope you have leftovers for supper so your spoon supply won't be further depleted by cooking.

I'm rereading the Mitford books and that's always so pleasant.

Hugs!

Love the beautiful zinnias. I thought of you today when I passed the exit for Leeds on I-20. My friend and I went to the SEJ UMW's meeting in Birmingham. Enjoy your blog.
