Here's a peek at my big-stitch quilting on the "Mama in the Mirror" quilt. My blister is almost well, so I'm going to try to get back to it today. Just couldn't stand the pressure while the blister was new.
Blog reader Wanda D. gave me a bit of valuable information re. big-stitch quilting. If I ever do it again, and I might, Wanda says BIllie Lauder recommends using #8 perle cotton, not number 5. The #8 goes through the fabric easier. I was going by a video that I found online, which recommended #5, I don't know why. So that's what I'm using. But I think Wanda and Billie have it right. No. 8 it is, next time. Thanks, Wanda.
Steve came yesterday and doctored my roses for their disease. I hope they spring back to full health now. He also weed-eated (weed-ate?), anyway he and his helper cut the weeds down in my little wooded area, so now the doggies don't have to take machetes when they go back there.
We thought we had lost Blue Toy in those weeds, couldn't find him anywhere, and Skipper was distraught. That's the only toy he plays with, adopted it immediately when he came to live with us, won't let anydoggie else play with it. But we found it yesterday in a basket in the living room under my iPad box. Phew!

"Just so you know, Skipper, that toy is really mine," says Sophie. "Paul gave it to me a long time ago when you were just a gleam in your daddy's eye. And I didn't name it Blue Toy. It doesn't have a name."
Below is Mr. Linky. Link up, bloggers, and let us see what you've been doing this week.

Hi!
What nice stitches in your Mama quilt! It's good to hear your blister isn't bothering you now and also about thread size. I may have to order size 8 perle cotton on-line as the quilt shops here don't seem to carry it.
Thanks Wanda! I'll check out what Billie Lauder has to say. I have two of her Quick Quilt Tricks books and refer to them often.
Skipper looks so cute with his (?) Blue Toy and it seems Sophie is okay with him having it even tho it was hers to start with.
My sewing machine's feed dogs just stopped working and didn't start again after I cleaned all of the fuzz out of that part of the machine. I've also done the trouble shooting things and I think the poorly made plastic lever has worn out. Bother!
Hugs!

Love the doggy pictures! You give them such personality with their conversations! The Mama Quilt will be so special with that handstitching.
I've linked up again, after a bit of a hiatus. Whew!

I've also learned the hard way to use #8 instead of #5 perl cotton. Hope your roses recover!

I think I'll try the big stitching on my Drunkard's Path quilt!

That picture of them in the chair is hilarious! Maisy loves her basketball above all other toys. It goes missing from time to time and she makes do with her hamburger or green ball. But then it resurfaces and takes its rightful place as favorite. It's missing right now.

Sorry to say, Sophie, but it apparently does have a name...and it's Blue Toy. I think it's safe to say that your little brother has claimed it as his own! I believe the term to use to describe Steve's work is 'weed-eatered!' Yep, I'm positive that's the past tense!!
