In spite of one dog barking and biting me and pulling on my pants leg and one dog staring at me all afternoon, I finished my sewing machine cover, just in time for my Bernina, Bernice, to spend a cold night snuggled under it. As you can see, like Lynn, I didn't feel the need to include the pocket on my cover.
For some reason, Skipper and Sophie hate for me to work in the sewing room. One of these days, I'm going to take all my stuff downstairs and set up in the dining room, thus defeating half the reason for a sewing room (to keep the mess out of the dining room) and see if they'll leave me alone while I sew.
The cover is simple to make. It would have been an absolute cinch had it not been for the doggies pestering me and the fact that the instructions said "sew completely around bottom of project," which I followed to the letter. Of course, then I had to pull out part of the stitching in order to turn the cover right side out.
I had such an intense and disturbing (and long) dream last night. Not a nightmare, just troublesome. Like people and forces working against me and wearing me out. Driving a car whose brakes didn't work, watching an ex commit a crime, having late husband and his friend working against me, painting a house only to have the paint peeling off immediately, etc., etc., etc. This morning, the bed was completely tumbled. I usually only have to smooth the covers when I get up in the morning. But not this time. It looks like a big storm came through the house.
This morning I'm exhausted and feeling quite strange. I think I might know the cause. I have let my fibro med prescription run out and haven't taken it for two days. It's one of those drugs that comes with a explicit instruction to not stop taking without doctor's approval. I'll go today and get the prescription filled.
And I have plans for another project too. I bought a wreath form when I was at Hobby Lobby the other day. I want to make a Valentine's Day wreath for the front door, using fabric strips and hearts. But for right now, I'm going to go and have another cup of coffee, take a shower, and go and get my prescription.

Susan -
That sewing machine cover is just too dang cute and I love how the teapot motif's match your little mug next to it! Red, Yellow & Black is one of my favorite go-together color combinations. They just play off each other so well don't they?
I'm sorry you had such a fretful night. I've had those nights where one disturbing dream sequence just seemed to lead right into another and another all night long and then when I wake up I feel like I've gone 10 rounds with heaven knows who! But such a relief when you finally do wake up and realize that you are still in the safety & comfort of your own room & your own bed. God is still in control and all is well.
But yes, please do go get your medicine. I am on daily doses of BP meds which I can't stop taking either or I get very sick. So take good care of yourself and let us see a picture of that Valentine's wreath when you get it all fixed up ok?
Sending you positive vibes,
Linda :-)

not taking your meds was probably the culprit!!
Savella is what I take for my fibromyalgia. This disease is a terrible interruption in one's life. Sometimes I have to take Ibuprofen along with the meds.
Love the machine cover. Today is a sewing day for me. I would love to get my act together and put some things on Etsy. Money is always nice...
hugs...Sharon

I love Bernice’s cover. It makes me want to sew one for my machine. I am a beginner sewer- I’m trying to figure out how you made it.

Your sewing machine cover turned out so cute! Makes me want to make one as well. I can empathize with your issue with the dogs pestering! Ozzie plagues the life out of me when I sit at the computer or the sewing machine. He brings me toys, steals my slippers and capers around for a chase, jumps up on me...He is such a dickens of a dog.

Wooooohoooo! Bernice is no longer nude! LOL! Seriously, that's what I call USING a craft item in a REALLY timely fashion! You made quick work of those new Hobby Lobby fabrics! The cover looks so bright and pretty and HAPPY. I know I always say things look 'happy', but I think you understand what I mean. Finally, cats do the same thing dogs do. For THAT matter, we ALL know children do, too. The MINUTE we get busy doing something we enjoy, there they are! Right in the middle of it. My cat Tarbaby (from when my daughter was little) would totally ignore me regardless of how much I tried to get her on my lap. But just LET me pick up a crocheting project & her fuzzy behind would plop right in the middle of it. SIGH. Now - if you HAVEN'T yet - go get your meds. It's lke my Prozac - I'm NOT supposed to stop taking it without the doc weaning me off it. (Tho' I know I'll be taking it my whole life.)

Charming snuggle garment for Bernice and I, too, love the fabrics. You've convinced me I need to scroll back and find the link for the instructions on how to make it - with note to self that you don't sew all the way around the bottom!
So sorry that you had such an exhausting night of upsetting dreams. Bother and bummer, but hope once back on your medicine you'll have sweet dreams once more. As you know, it is not good or safe to suddenly stop taking some medicines. Please don't go there again. AMIL has found that getting a 3 months supply of those meds that aren't too expensive is a real time and energy saver.
DH made a screen door for my sewing room with a hook on the inside so I can keep the cats out. I make a big enough mess in here and could not do with more mess. The screen door is the perfect solution for my situation!
Big hugs!

Hi Susan! Thanks for the encouraging words about my jounal peek-a-boo! It really is my very first attempt at such a thing after almost a year of drooling over all the wonderful collage artists and their work in Blogland. I'm so excited to be a part of this circle journal and to really work my hand at it. Hoping to get so much inspiration from studying everyone's work!
Your sewing projects look wonderful - really need to get my machine fixed. I want to make a couple of costumes but I'm having bobbin trouble and it needs a medic.
Speaking of medic - hope you are feeling better!!!!
Joy!
Kathy

I was laughing to myself when I read about your dogs not liking you to sew. My dog is the same way. She paces, puts her head in my lap, nudges my arms, and growls in the hallway outside my sewing room to try to lure me out to see what she is seeing.

So cute! Hey, I think Criminal Minds is new tonight. Haven't watched a tv show in a week, I don't think.

My dog Sooner does the same thing to me when I go into the sewing room. Maybe it's a universal dog vs. sewing thing!

Poor girl! I hate having that kind of night! Last night I woke up and realized that I got my husband out of bed and told him "we have to go, we have to go now." when I woke up I was standing up talking to my husband. Weird. Definitely fill your script, I bet that's what it is. Love the sewing machine cover, especially the dots! Sleep well tonight!

Love that cover! Now I need to make one for my poor old machine...I really don't neglect her, just use her so much I never think she needs covering!
I know what you mean about weird dreams. It is the fibro meds! I, too, have not been taking them as I should. Sort of ran out and didn't get any more. When I started them again several days ago, I had the most horrible night! Kept thinking that some one was chasing me, then I was trapped somewhere, etc. I tell you, that really should be on the warning label!
Hope you are staying warmer than I am...it is blowing snow again and is a balmy 9! Someone really needs to remind me why I moved here!
Have a wonderful day!
Hugs....
