Members turned in 49 Autumn Pinwheels blocks (above) for the block of the month drawing yesterday--and Lisa A. won them. We were all really happy. Lisa just lost her dad, with whom she was extremely close. She needed some cheer.
Our speaker was Lillis Taylor (left), a young woman who has recently become a member of our guild. Lillis has lived in many parts of the world, but is a Birmingham native. She talked about her life as an artist and how that led her to quilting. She was very interesting--and just too cute.
Our clotheslines were full for Show & Tell. Everyone has been busy, busy. I took my coloring bags to show and got lots of interest from other members who want to make them for family members and charity causes. I emailed some directions when I got back home. I'd be happy to email them to anyone who is interested.
Below are a few of the other beauties that were featured on the Show-&-Tell clothesline yesterday.

What a pretty tree shirt!

Several members attended a purse-making workshop. The results were amazing.

One of my favorites

Thanks to all of you for sending me well wishes. My back is much better. The allergies are still giving me fits, and the meds keep me a little blicky, but, all in all, this week is turning out much better than last.
I'm still working on reading SK's 11/22/63. Not quite halfway through. It's a long one, almost 900 pages. But it's really really good. And I haven't even got to the title date yet.

The quilts are so pretty. I love the purses too!
I read some of the reviews of the book 11/22/63 that you had linked to in your post and thought that they made me want to read the book. I noticed that you referred to the book as 9/22/63 in your post. I was curious if that was a typo or if your were referring to the date where you are half way through the book?
Thanks for sharing your quilts, ideas, books with us. I love reading your blog. I read it almost everyday during my lunch break at work. I don't always comment but I do enjoy reading.

Wonderful blocks, quilts, and purses!! I love the colors and the imaginations that have been used! Applause to all!!
Glad to hear you're a bit better and that this week is better than last week.
Does anyone know someone in Mississippi who needs a wall clock for Christmas? The Signals catalog has the cutest clock that counts the time as one mississippi, two mississippi, etc all the way around to fifty-nine mississippi, sixty mississippi!!
Hugs!

Oooooh! I always really LOVE seeing the gorgeous quilted pieces! Your crayon bags ROCK! I didn't comment on them (I don't THINK I did) because I was dodging storms. No, not INSIDE! Just needed to unplug the computer! LOL! Anyway, they are brilliant! The lil' speaker looks so cute! I WANT her outfit! Of course, at MY size, I believe it would look a LOT LESS cute on ME. Hope by day's end you feel TONS better!
