More Than We Bargained For

Skip
This picture of Skipper really has nothing to do with the post to come. But I don't have any pictures of flooding, wind damage, power outages, and muddy doggie foot prints.

We were all so grateful when Lee brought us all that refreshing rain. But nobody told us we were going to have to pay.

Power went out to a large portion of our area last night, including the Yellow House. Alabama Power informs us that all power should be restored by 10:00 p.m--SEPTEMBER 10!!!!

Also a big, like huge, tree was blown down at Andy's new house, taking out gas and power lines. Since Andy hasn't taken ownership of the house yet, it will be the responsibility of the present owner and her insurance company to make the repairs. Andy is hoping this won't cause a big delay.

I guess I was just too preoccupied with trying to get Sophie to go out and pee yesterday to realize that the storm was as bad as it was. I stayed soaked for most of the day, taking her out in the rain, putting her down, and watching her run back to the door. Soph refused to tinkle from 8:00 yesterday morning until about 8:30 last night. Finally, Mother Nature got the better of her and she answered the call.

Skipper, meanwhile, has been reveling in the return of his ability to dig a fine hole in the backyard. Many foot washings later, I have now placed a big plastic drop cloth over the main area where he loves to dig and anchored it down with big rocks. I wonder how long that will hold.

So I gotta go now. I have to fill up the gasoline cans (Ginny is running on the last of my supply), stock up on fresh veggies and fruit (for my diet), and buy some more doggie treats.

Oh my! So happy that you have a generator. I'm hoping that power is restored before then!!! And I hope everything works out for Andy's house. What a mess. At least Skipper is enjoying it and it's all about the dogs in the long run right? Sending empathy and best wishes your way.

Wishing you luck and power back quickly. We just went through all this with Irene. Our concern became our freezers as we don't have a generator. Good that you do.
Be safe.

Can't wait to hear what Skipper does about the tarp 'issue' YOU have created for him!! A dog's gotta' what a dog's gotta' do...where there's a will there's a way...can you see where I'm going with this?? (to China!!! hahahaha)!!! Chances are he'll relocate his excavation project and continue on! Hope Andy's new house is a quick fix!

Oh, dear! Bummer about the power outage as that is a recent memory here, too. Cheers for the generators that keep us going with lights and the 'fridge/freezer and for the crews that work to restore normal power.

What a shame about the loss of the tree at Andy's new home but am glad its removal isn't costing her and am over the moon happy her house wasn't hit. Whew!!

I can just imagine the mud wallow from Skipper's digging. Perhaps a kiddie swimming pool should be near the back door so you can dunk him before putting him a towel to go inside?! Good luck with that!

We've had lovely rain here last night and today and no wind, thunder, or lightning. It's been a joy!

Hugs!

Yay for generators, boo for falling trees!!! That is hilarious about Skipper barking when he digs! Hope they are wrong about your power. Maybe it will be back on later tonight, praying it so for you anyway.

Sophie is all girl and Skipper is all boy! I can't wait to hear what Skipper will do now! He found the perfect home when he found you ;)
The storm was bad here as well ... hope Lee is gone!
Hugs,
Donna

Hope power gets back to normal soon. Sophie's antics made me smile. Managing to hang on all day so as not to get wet.

I hope it is restored quickly and Andy's house is sorted out too.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE Skipper. Used to read your blog for quilty news and what's going on with you. But since Skipper's arrival, I can't wait to see what he's up to. He was meant to be with you. Of course I love Sophie too, but LOVE that Skipper.

I hope your world is back to normal soon!
Our weather is taking its toll on us this year!

You don't happen to have a treadle sewing machine...??? for when the power is out. [I don't either!]

Whew! I am so sorry you lost your power - and for such a long time. Hopefully they will get it restored sooner than anticipated. Please take care of yourself and stay safe.

That storm came through here yesterday and last night. We had tornado warnings on and off the entire day. I repeatedly had to leave my office because it has a window and go to an inner space. Needless to say I didn't get much work done.

So thankful the storm has passed and you were spared severe damage or harm. You had a good day browsing with these finds.
