I made an interesting discovery yesterday. I'm sure I'm not the first one to make this discovery, but I'm delighted nevertheless.
I discovered that I can use the exact same size squares to make a Bow Tie block that I used to make the Smackdown Friendship Star quilt a couple of weeks ago--5" and 2 1/2" squares.
The main difference is that the Friendship Star is a nine-patch block and the Bow Tie is a four-patch block.
Since I still have a massive amount of scraps in my stash, my next project will be a cuddle quilt for my guild's charity quilt program made from these bow tie blocks. Might even make more than one.
If any of you are interested in more detailed instructions on how to make either or both of these blocks, let me know and I'll be happy to post them.
Miss Birdie is spending the day at Dr. Rachel's today. She's going to get checked out physically and for a microchip, have her shots, and get a good bath. (Andy and I missed a few spots.)
I had just a little trouble getting her down the stairs, into the basement, and into the back seat of the car. But once she was there, she settled in a rode like a good dog. But then came the fun, getting her into the vet clinic. She was determined that she was not going. She lay down on her back in front of the clinic door, stuck her feet up in the air, and wouldn't budge. It took me and the receptionist together to get her inside. But then she seemed fine again.
Heavy, heavy rain is falling today--which makes for more doggie problems. Sophie will NOT go outside. Skipper, Daisy, and Birdy are fine with going outside and getting all muddy and tracking it into the house. Oh my! Aren't doggies wonderful?

Great discovery on the same-size blocks and interchangeable scraps.
Yes, dogs are fun and their individual personalities are - most of the time - a joy! I imagine Lady Bird was overjoyed when you or Andy came to pick her up at the vet's office and brought her back home.
Hugs!

You sure are busy herding dogs around:) Is it any easier than herding cats?? Although rain is a muddy mess, we sure need it here in GA so please send it this way. Even the weeds are dead in my yard. Hope everything checks out fine with Birdie. She is a lovely dog and so lucky to have found y'all.

Poor Birdie! Can you imagine how scared & confused she must be? I'll bet she could tell you some stories! Give her some time in her forever home with Andy and she'll be a regular dog in no time! It sounds like she's made some progress going inside with the gang.
