I accidentally came across this photo on the internet. Paul Newman was definitely one of my favorite hunks. His acting was ok too, and I also love his wife Joanne Woodward. When I saw this photo I got to wondering how many famous people really do sew or knit or crochet.
I know that Vanna White crochets because I edited some books with her when I was at Oxmoor House. I have also made a couple of her afghans.
Having, of course, nothing to do but sit here at this computer and while away the hours (sure!), I went looking for needling celebrities.
Here's what I found out.
Venus Williams, the world’s number-one tennis player, learned to sew so she could have new clothes for her dolls. Later, in between winning tennis tournaments, she joined forces with Steve & Berry to create a clothing line called EleVen.
Nicole Kidman learned to sew because she couldn’t find anything that she liked in the stores for her children. Now, she sews her children’s clothing.
I also understand that Chris Martin from the band ColdPlay likes to sew.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Kirstin Davis (note Sarah's needles in her boot)
Some more celebrity knitters
Joan Crawford
Audrey Hepburn
Ann Sheridan and Bette Davis
Katherine Hepburn
Yep, Cary Grant. I think this could be a shot from a movie. Not sure Cary was actually a knitter.
First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt knitting on the train--or plane maybe
A young Russell Crow seems confused

Thanks to all of you who gave me tips, advice, and suggestions about helping my Skipper out with his allergies. Be assured that I'm going to look into every one of them.
Now I also have the added worry of snakes and my dogs in the backyard. When we took our walk yesterday, there was a very big snake squashed in the road. And we've seen copperheads in our yard in years past. I'm considering shutting off the gate to the large part of he backyard and confining Sophie and Skipper to the original tiny fenced area until snake season is over.
From the commotion I hear outside, the landscapers have arrived to remove the holly stumps and plant the knock-out roses around the front of the house. So I guess I better to get out of my PJs and into some clothes so I can go out and speak to them.
That dreaded old Fibromonster has come for a visit. I've had a couple of very bad days, and today is looking like more of the same.
I hope all my blogging buddies out there are doing well.
Disclaimer: My layout and fonts looks hideous, I know. Fibromonster always interferes with my thinking process and destroys my eye-hand coordination.

Ahhhhhh Paul Newman! SIGH.....
The photos were fun to see - Thanks! Alas, my hands don't play nicely together so I don't knit or crochet.
Knock out roses are the best!! What color(s) did you choose? We have pink and red.
Hope you feel better soon, sweetie!

Thanks for a very interesting post! I think the best of us learn to do what we enjoy most, whether it's sewing, knitting, quilting, painting, etc.
I hope you feel better soon. The Knock-out roses should lift your spirits if nothing else. I have some myself, and I love them!

This was fun Susan! And let's face it, the word is out...knitting is officially COOL!
I'm so glad I don't have your snake problems - woah, that would scare the (hand-knitted) socks right off me!

Well, look at your new header! I love it! This was an interesting post, Susan. It's always fun to find out who knits/quilts! Sorry you've not been feeling well again. I agree with another commenter...I hope the knockouts cheer you!

OMG, as I read Susan's post I kept thinking, "what about the football player who appeared on 'Johnny Carson' who sat and needlepointed during his entire interview. I thought, "Gee, I'd like to try that". Thanks to Mr. Grier I have been needlepointing since the '60s.

The pic of Kate Hepburn is my favorite! She is one of my favorite actresses. That expression on Cary Grant's face of frustration and the look of complete confussion on Russel Crow's face...I know them well; I get those looks every time I try to knit!
I love your new heading of the bunny quilt. That is so cute! I love all of the quilts you showed off on an earlier post. Absolute talent!
Sorry the fibro monster is active. Mine seems to be doing better since I started a new med. At least I don't feel so worn out and like I'm on fire. Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs....

The Cary Grant photo is from the movie "Mr. Lucky" with Loraine Day. How do I know....He was my favorite movie star when I was a kid. Don't think he could really knit. It is nice to know how many celebs really do sew, knit or crochet. Thanks for checking it out. Hugs.
