Think Pink--and Green

Although it's hard work, I'm having a great time planning for and refurbishing my house. Everything is still pretty much in a big mess right now; but I have come to a point where I can almost see what it will be like when I'm finished.

In addition to decluttering, moving stuff around, chasing dust bunnies, and what-not, I've also been perusing internet home dec sites and blogs for ideas. I'm even getting to know myself a little better in the process. For example, although I would have probably answered "blue and yellow" if asked what my favorite color combination is, I'm finding it's really pink and green. There's just something so happy about those two colors together.

Below are a few shots I found online for my inspirations folder.

Below is a beautiful photo taken by my friend Marilyn H., and attached to the birthday card that she and her husband Tony sent me. Goes right along with today's theme, doesn't it?

That beautiful pink zinnia also reminds me that I want to do some gardening this year too. But I don't know if that's going to happen, since my work in the house is probably going to last right through summer.

Don't you think pink and green look delicious together? What is your favorite color combination? Have you been able to use it anywhere in your house?

Great inspiration photos! I like the rooms where the pink is softer, like the 2nd photo sunroom, the room with the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt blocks over the couch, and the next to last photo with the light green couch.

I love the amazing zinnia photo. Perhaps it should be matted and framed?!

My favorite color combinations have been pink and green for years but while raising boys it's been mostly in my sewing room. Our bedroom as pink/green wallpaper that I love and DH likes. The colors in our home have evolved to green/blue/red/cream tho that's been a happen-so of time.

I will confess to liking blue and white, blue and cream, blue and yellow so may have a quilt to make in those hues to satisfy myself.

I'm so happy you can see glimpses of how your home is coming together with all you've done! How wonderful!

Hugs!

Well - I always thought I liked soft yellow and blue together but I'm sure liking the pink and green. It's very soothing and just the styles I love. Such pretty rooms and very inspiring - makes you think Spring is almost here. Happy decorating Susan!

love pink and green together!!! if that's the colors you choose I recommend matting and framing the card your friend sent, it would look divine hanging up!

Since I moved here last year, I've set aside my old combo of red & green decor and my bedroom PLUS my bathroom are pink & spring green. I just love the lightness & freshness of that pairing! I think you are going to find it a very REFRESHING change. Makes ME feel energetic yet calm at the same time if that makes any sense. Cannot WAIT to see what you do! Just don't try to do too much too quickly! LOVE YOU!

Such wonderful inspiration and OMG on those framed "Grandmother's Flower Garden Blocks!" What an awesome idea and I've made a mental note on them :) I too adore "pink and green," which are the colors of our master bedroom and bath :)

Hi Susan - oh yes, pink and green are my favorite colors, especially pink. You're right, there is something so happy about these two colors. I carry these in my purse in one way, shape, form or another all the time - colored pencils, writing paper, hankies, etc. Love the pics you've posted of decorating ideas - I would love to redo my home like these (I have too many boys in the house at this stage, they would never go for the pink!). Have a wonderful day!! Hugs.

It's so hard to pick a favorite color combo. I love red-white-and blue, but I also like red and turquoise, and red and yellow. And I do love pink and green! That one shot with the quilt blocks framed over the couch is gorgeous.

When I was about 11, my mother made me an Easter dress (an a-line mini) that was green with pink flowers. I had a big pink bow for my hair, pink and green 'love beads' and pink--get this--fishnet stockings. Yep, I was a kid in the 60s, LOL!
