A million thanks for all the Happy Birthday comments, emails, virtual cards, literal cards, etc. Although Vann wasn't here to help share it, my day was great.
Only one thing went wrong. My childhood friend Bonnie, who lives in Virginia, never ever forgets my birthday. She always sends me a card. It's one thing about my birthday that I always look forward to. Well just look a the condition Bonnie's card was in when I found it in the mailbox yesterday. Apparently some disgruntled postal worker had taken out his frustrations on my precious card. It, and it's envelope, were ripped into three pieces, placed in a plastic bag with an apology printed on the outside. Well, I'm not forgiving them. Not for a long time. They ruined my Bonnie card, and that's no small thing.

The movie, "Alice in Wonderland," was great. The characters, scenery, acting, costumes, story--everything was so much fun. I was so engrossed that Andy thought I was sleeping, I think. Several times she asked me if I was ok.
Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter is wonderful, of course. Alice is beautiful. The actress who plays her looks like a young Gwynyth Paltrow. The Door Mouse, Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar, the White Rabbit, the March Hare--all the tea party characters are wonderful. Helena Bonham Carter is a hoot as the big-headed Red Queen, and the actress (forget name) who plays the White Queen is also very good. In fact, I wouldn't change a thing about this movie. Watching it is the next best thing to being a kid again. See it: You will believe a woman can fall down a rabbit hole.
I'm not going to give away any spoilers here, but I will tell you that this story takes place 13 years after Alice originally falls down the rabbit hole. For some reason, I didn't get that until halfway through the movie. I just thought it was a rewrite of the original story.
I have read disclaimers that say the movie might be too intense for young children. And I will say that the Bandersnatch is a very scary character. So if you have very sensitive kiddies, you might better see it first without them and judge for yourself if it's suitable for them.
After the movie, Andy and I had dinner at a popular local BBQ joint called Jim 'n' Nick's. I had BBQed pork, beans, and slaw. Andy had fried catfish filet, fries, and slaw. We both had sweet tea. You can't have BBQ or fried catfish without sweet tea. It was yummy.

Got to go now and start getting ready for book club. My water is off because the water works people are doing something over on Rex Lake Road, a couple of miles from me. So I'm going to have to conduct my ablutions via Handiwipes.
We're not discussing a book today at book club. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, we're going to watch the movie "Waking Ned Devine." It's a hilarious movie about a fellow who wins the lottery and promptly drops dead. His two friends, Michael and Jackie, decide Ned would want them to share the winnings. So they set about to talk the town into their plot to collect the money. If you've never seen it (and many of the ladies in our book club haven't) I recommend it.

I'm so glad you had a good day. Don't be too hard on the P.O. Their equipment is sometimes a little over-zealous when it grabs those envelopes.
"Waking Ned Devine" is a great movie. Haven't seen it in a long time.

Happy day after! That poor little birthday card needs scotch tape surgery.
Please let me know if my card doesn't arrive. It had an enclosure and I guessed at the postage since I forgot to mail in until Tuesday. I hope it doesn't come to you postage due or come back to me for that reason because then it would be really late getting back to you.
I've never seen the movie you mention so will have to look for it.
You've made me want to see Alice!
Hugs!

Yeah, the postal workers usually aren't the ones who rip the mail but the machines do get carried away. Waking Ned Devine is a hilarious. Such human predicaments they find themselves in. Thanks for the info on Alice. I may have to go see it after all.
