Waiting for the Snow

Coffee etal

The weather gurus are suggesting the possibility of snow tonight. They never will just come right out and say it. I guess that's because they've been wrong so many times. I hope we get snow. I don't know why, I just love to see snow falling and leaves falling. And rain falling too.

It's very cold today, just the kind of weather that my fibromyalgia loves to come out and play in. But I have a new supply of coffee now. And that Vanilla Spiced Rum creamer in the photo is yummy. Those Annie's Honey Graham Bunnies are pretty good too. I bought them because I thought they were so cute, but they're really quite tasty. Just ask Sophie.

I've made some meager progress in the decluttering process, and local charities have benefitted. Yesterday, I drove to Birmingham to drop off five big boxes of men's coats and long sleeved shirts at a homeless shelter for men called Jimmie Hale Mission. It has been in operation in Birmingham for many many years and is an excellent mission. I've also donated many, many shirts, pants, and shoes to a charity closer to home that serves people in my hometown of Leeds. And my front porch is currently loaded with boxes to be picked up by the Kings Ranch/Hannah Home truck today. That's a charity that runs shelters for women and children.

Declutter

So I think Vann is pleased with how I'm handling his clothes. But much of my house looks like the photo above--or worse. I'm looking so forward to the day when all the clutter will be gone and my house will be neat and organized.

YI940LF6G In Vann's closet upstairs, I found an old leather jacket that was very worn and vintage looking--sort of like the one in the photo. I asked my grandson Jesse if he wanted it. He sort of sneered at it until I told him that such a vintage leather jacket would cost hundreds of dollars in shops in New York. He left wearing the jacket and a bright orange hunting cap, one of oodles of caps in Vann's wardrobe. Wish I had taken a photo.

Remember my friend Mr. Bill who had heart bypass surgery last month? He called a little while ago. He said the doctor has released him to drive and he's coming to visit me and Sophie. First he's stopping off at our friend Paul's house across the stress, then he's coming over here.

So I best close this post and clear a path to the front door so he can get in. Stay warm.

You're getting there, slowly but shirtly
;-) I mean shirtless..I mean shortly! Whew! Way to spread the love, my friend, good job. Yes, Uncle Vann would be very proud. That leather coat looks very much like the one Greg wears on a daily basis...while his brand new, pretty, soft, black lambskin leather one hangs in the closet (last year's "first Christmas together" flopped-gift sigh).

Love you, LBJ

You gotta do what you gotta do! With the temps dropping here, I wish I had some coats to give out to people too.

I think it is wonderful what you are doing with Vann's clothes. The Jimmy Hale mission I'm sure appreciates them.
I hope we do get some snow! Birmingham will probably get some and us north of you will probably not get ANY! LOL
Blessings and Hugs

This is a hard thing to do but part of the healing process all the same. My mom passed Sept. 1st and we went through her clothing the first week of November. There were 3 of us girls so it made the task a lot easier to bear. Your hubby would be proud of you for sharing with others.

I remember living in Bama and all we got in the NW corner was ice! Here in NC they had a 20 inch snow not too far long ago. Oh what I wouldnt give to see that one time in my life!

I agree that Vann must surely be smiling at you. You are doing good things.

I hope you enjoyed your visit with your friend. And, I hope you get your snow.

Hi Susan ~ I think you're doing a great job of just gradually clearing stuff out and putting the clothes to good use. That would have made a great pic of your grandson in the orange cap with Vann's coat. We're supposed to get 2 - 4" of the white stuff on Saturday...which is Sarah's 23rd birthday, quite appropriate for a girl in love with Christmas and snow! I'm afraid she won't get a b'day lunch out though if I can't get off our mountain to take her!

Thanks so much for the anniversary greeting. I only wish you could have had Vann here for yours. I'm sure you are right that he's pleased to see his clothes going to those who really need them. And I bet he's smiling to think of Jesse in that jacket. I bet it's of better quality, even old, than most of the jackets out there today!

A very good time to donate to those in need - cold weather and holidays. Such a blessing. I took some coats over to a nearby town for their coat giveaway. Hope you had a good visit and get your snow wish. We'll have some soon enough up here in the north.

You're doing well, my dear. Vann is certainly pleased with all he sees happily wearing things he's finished with. You've done well being careful and thoughtful. Hugs!

We're probably have a rain/snow mix tomorrow. We're staying home.

How did you find bunny graham crackers that look so much like one you appliqued??? Impressive!

More hugs!

I'm so not a betting kind of person, but I'd DEFINITELY bet that Vann is smiling so BIG right now; proud that you are working through the grief, & proud that you are doing it in a way so typical of you - with kindness! And I'm glad you have some coffee again! Can't have my sister-friend over there with no coffee! That cream flavor is one I haven't tried yet! Going to get some Wednesday! The bunny grahams look good, too!

You must have moments when it is hard, Susan, but I know Vann would be pleased at all the good you are doing with his clothes. The leather jacket story was cute and heartwarming.
