Cancer took two great men from us today. Senator Ted Kennedy, after a lifetime of public service, lost his battle with brain cancer. Author and journalist Dominick Dunne succumbed to bladder cancer.
The world will be a little darker without these two. My prayer tonight is that a cure be found for this horrible disease.
Cancer has touched the lives of many of my friends and family. My niece died of cervical cancer when she was only 42. A friend lost her daughter to colon cancer. One of my best friends from high school lost a grandson to brain cancer. Cancer took another dear friend's husband. Our church secretary recently succumbed to ovarian cancer. My grandmother died of stomach cancer. As most of you know, my husband, Vann, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last November. He is in the hospital tonight fighting for his life. The mother of a good friend was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, too late for any kind of treatment except pain meds. The list goes on.
I also have friends who have beaten the monster, but even they were left with battle scars. They lost breasts, hair, organs, and life savings in the fight to live.
I say cancer has had its way with human beings for long enough. Let's not be satisfied until this horror is wiped from our planet.

Susan, I woke during the night thinking of you and Vann. Please know that my prayers are constant.
My family has been touched by this awful monster, too. We must continue to fight. I work with people that have dedicated their lives to fight, but unfortunately we are still not there.

Hear! hear! It seems incredible, as scientifically and technically advanced as we have become, that we are still beaten regularly by this monster. And that those who survive it, thanks to the advances that have been made, are so traumatized by the treatments.
I pray for Vann, and for you, often during every day.

Amen and amen.
My father died of cancer. He was treated for lung cancer after a lifetime of smoking Camel cigarettes and was found to have had stomach cancer on autopsy. My dear, sweet aunt had breast cancer. Too many friends or their family members have been sadly touched by this disease in its many forms. Praying for a cure...
Praying for Vann and for you and your family ...
Hugs.

And, cancer recovery happens all the time and we are advancing in cancer treatment. We need our government to continue funding cancer research. I have a husband who is cancer free after 5 years. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He was caught early and received chemo and radiation. Cancer research is so important. Vann is fighting the good fight and it is so hard! I just had a friend succumb to pancreatic cancer in the past 2 months. It is a terrible monster. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. PAM

My nephew and his fiancee are both working in cancer research at the University of Michigan. They and so many others are working so hard to find a cure....that time can't come soon enough!
My prayers continue...I hope Vann (and you) have a very good day!

Ted Kenneday was not a great man and he will be explaining to our good Lord his excuses for the sins he has committed in this life but I'm sorry about his death from cancer. Dominick Dunn was one of my favorite authors and loved watching his TV shows and I sincerely grieve his death. My greatest hope is that Vann gets over this huge bump in the road of life. He sounds like a truly great man and deserving of so many people praying for his recovery. I pray that God give you courage and healing from fibro until Vann is well again. You look beautiful but I personally know what your body is going through at this time of greatest stress. Hang in there, sweetie.

My thoughts and prayers are with Vann and you as you go through this. My dad and sister both had colon cancer. On the same day that the two men mentioned in your post died, we lost a wonderful Christian mom of two young boys to breast cancer. She was also a fantastic, sweet, lovely friend and neighbor. She had fought this monster for several years. Researchers must find a cure for this horrid thing called cancer soon.
