Back to the Hospital

Hope-1 I'm sorry to report that Vann is back in the hospital. He had stopped being able to eat and was getting weaker and weaker. This afternoon when we went for chemo, Dr. L admitted him to the hospital. The good news was that his blood counts were very good, and his abdomen wasn't distended. His blood pressure was excellent, no temperature. But plenty of pain, weakness, and nausea.

They did a series of x-rays this evening as soon as Vann was settled in. I hope we'll hear what they showed tomorrow. They aren't letting him have anything by mouth, not even water. That makes me think that they could be thinking "surgery."

I wanted very much to stay with Vann tonight. But I slept about two hours last night and about the same the night before. My entire body feels like it's on fire and I'm totally exhausted. I'm afraid if I don't get some rest and try to get the fibro pain under control, I won't be able to take care of Vann when he gets home. Amy is staying the night at the hospital, dividing her time between Vann and her mom. It's sort of convenient that they're both in the same hospital. I just wish neither one of them were. Amy is really being a trooper and doing everything she can to help us and her mom. Andy has been a great help too, but now she has come down with some kind of respiratory thing and really needs caring for herself. I think this family needs a complete tune-up.

Calls continue to pour in from friends and neighbors with offers of help. God has blessed us richly with good friends and family.

Please do keep us all in your prayers. We need them now more than ever. Hugs to all.

Stay strong Sus. You relax (I know it seems like a foreign concept right now) and try to work on getting your fibro under control. I'll be keeping Dad company and can do all the housework and such. Just let me know what else I can do--I know you're exhausted.

Love you!

Oh Susan! When it rains it pours doesn't it? You, Vann, Amy's mom, Andy and everyone else are in my constant prayers!! Take care of yourself please, you are right that you'll be no good if the fibro flares any more. Let us know what's going on today if you can.

Susan, your email makes me so sad for Vann, you and your entire family. Please read Isaiah 43:1-7. It is a scripture that has carried me through some tough times. I am going to the Lord right now to petition His mercy, grace and healing for Vann, you and all your family. Also, didn't my friend (Charlene) from the Healing Rooms send you a CD of healing scriptures? If so, please pray it continuously in Vann's room so that he can hear it and be bathed in God's promises. Blessings to you both. Joyce

Dear heart,

I'm so sorry that Vann needed to be back in the hospital but am elated there was no distension and that his blood counts were/are good. Hope today's news is good, too. Hydration, nutrition, and pain can be handled at home when you have assistance there.

Daughters are the best in saving the day, aren't they? So speaks this daughter, of course!! Hope Amy holds up and Andy gets over this annoying bug.

Take good care of you, sweetie. Hospital chairs and long hours away from home all feed the aches and bothers. Give yourself permission to tend to yourself with a long bath, nap, or whatever it takes so you can feel as good as possible when you're with Vann.

Hugs, blessings, and continuing prayers ...

I'm am so terribly sorry for all you are going through. I'll for sure keep you and all of your family in my prayers. My husband had a stroke four years ago (he's ok). The one thing I had to learn to do was accept help, in whatever way it came. From mowing my yard to gettng me a milk shake. When people ask what they can do it's so easy to say, "Oh, I'm fine. I don't need anything." When in fact, you do need help and they lovingly want to give it to you. Take them up on it. It'll make you and them feel so much better.

May the Lord's angels wrap their wings around you in the dark corners of your night to keep you safe and warm.

Dear Susan:

I am sad that this is the experience of your life right now. And for Vann and the family. I know you feel worn out and probably are having a hard time keeping up the pace. I affirm for you right now:

"God is holding you tight and you feel His compassionate presence. You are being Divinely renewed and strengthened. You will hear the right and perfect guidance in every moment...giving you the ability to see life through. And God's highest good is unfolding for all of you right now. And you will have the courage to embrace the eternal good."

love, kelee
