Life's a Beach (I Wish)

Panama-city-beach-florida-parasailWe arrived at the condo on Panama City Beach yesterday afternoon. After putting away groceries, unpacking, making the bed with the brand new sheets that Stuart sent with us, making dinner (sloppy joes), eating, and cleaning the kitchen, we were both ready to try out those sheets. I slept like a rock. This morning, we're just sort of chilling out and watching the waves and seagulls. Not very many people on the beach, but that could change as the weekend draws nearer.

Does anybody out there have one of these (see photo at bottom), a
Earths-biggest-selection-450px._V251249388_ Kindle or other kind of e-reader? I think I want one, but I can't make up my mind. They're the size of a book, but they'll hold 1,500 books. You download the books from the internet. The cost of a new release, bestseller is about $10. The screen is lighted, so you don't need to worry about good reading light. You can even subscribe to newspapers and magazines via the Kindle. And the Kindle has a voice mode, so you can sew or cook or whatever you like to do and have your books read to you.

I'm seriously considering one, so if anyone has any experience with them, I could use some advice.

My dad got a Kindle for Christmas. I didn't think I would like it at all.
When I got a few minutes to mess around with it though I loved it. It sin't lit like a computer screen so it doesn't hurt your eyes, in fact it looks like you are reading a regular page in a book.
Except you get to choose what size the print is.
I didn't get a chance to play around with it all that much, but what I did get to play with I loved. My mom is wanting one now. She had thought it was pointless because she likes to buy the actual books. After messing with Dad's she wants one.
There are even some cookbooks and knitting pattern books that you can download for it.

I have an iPhone with the Kindle App on it. The screen is much smaller than the real Kindle but I love it. I have something to read with me at all times! No more sitting with nothing to do when waiting somewhere.

I listen to books on my Ipod, but don't have a Kindle. If you do get one, be sure to go to Moda Bake Shop as Kim has a tutorial for a Kindle cover that is so cute!

Oh, what a wonderful view! Love the sound of the surf! Enjoy! Did you know Amazon has another version of the Kindle out now? Its screen is larger and it holds 3500 books! I don't have one - yet.

The view is gorgeous. I could go to a place like that and stay put and be content. About Kindle, no experience here but I doubt that I would ever want one, for I love holding a real book, collecting them and having them on the shelves and I would miss that.

My sister has had a Kindle for quite awhile and swears by it! She's also impressed with the newer version and recommends it to everyone! When I was visiting her in March she spent time in a quilt shop happily reading from her Kindle while I picked out fabric! She takes it everywhere with her and publishers are now going to a sliding price scale according to how recent the release is.

I don't have one yet, but I really ... want one. Let me know if you take the plunge.

The ocean looks so inviting. I need some time away, too.

Enjoy every second.

You don't need a computer to download books, magazines, newspapers, etc. to your Kindle...It has "whispernet"and interacts like your cell phone to download. So you shop and download your books, etc. right off of your Kindle

I really want one but will have to wait until I move. The books are super expensive in Alaska and not all are available.

Oh, that view makes me so want to go to the beach. Nothing like sitting and watching the waves - and I do mean just sitting and watching the waves. I can do it for hours and just come away so relaxed. I have been looking at the Kindle and debating about getting one. Looks like you will be our trailblazer and let us know what you think.

My sister Trish got a Kindle for her birthday back in February and no one has seen her since. Seriously, she LOVES it. The books she can buy for it through Amazon cost about half of what she would regularly pay. She carries is absolutely everywhere with her. Your only danger in getting on is that you might just disappear like she did.

I want to be looking out that window! I work with someone who has an e-reader. He loves it! I think there would me something missing - not holding a book and turning the pages. But I think for traveling it would be wonderful. Hope you are enjoying yourself.
