The Trouble With Chemo

Chemo_sucks_front  Chemo does not discriminate. Bad cells, good cells, jail cells--whatever gets in its way gets annihilated. The stuff is really eating up those cancer cells, as I've said, with an 85% reduction in Vann's tumor markers as of a couple of weeks ago. But it seems old Chemo also has a taste for his red blood cells, which have also dropped. This has made him a little anemic and a lot tired.

We went to see Dr. L yesterday, and he ordered Vann a shot for his anemia. I forget the name of the drug. The nurse told him that it wouldn't help right away and that part of his fatigue and weakness could be due to the effects of the chemo. Well, duh! Yeah.

Anyway, other than that, Vann's doing well. He ate a great big breakfast this morning: cheese omelet, sausage, cheese grits, toast, peace jam, and milk. Lots of protein.Fibromyalgia_sucks_mousepad-p144115817213328134vpo7_210

So as not to be outdone by the Chemo Monster, I suppose, the Fibro Monster has returned. The moon is full moon too. I'm so stiff and tired and achey. Old Fibromonster has been pretty much leaving me alone since Vann has been sick, with just a brief visit from time to time. But he's here with all his relatives this time. I hope they don't plan to stay long.

Well, I guess that all the moaning and groaning we have to do at the Yellow House today. Sophie is fine, except I won't let her stay outside all day and chase squirrels. I hope everyone else is having a great Tuesday.

Oh dear. I hope you both regain some energy soon. Until then take care of yourselves! Hey maybe you can train Sophie to cook dinner :).

Your pink valentine's banner is so pretty...cheery on this gray, misty day here.
I'm sorry to hear you both are down. Hopefully things will pick up again quickly. Hoping you can get some good rest. If you can, just do the absolute necessaries...the other things will wait. My prayers are with you.

Hi Susan and Vann,

Sorry to hear of the anemia/fatigue and I hope your new injection will help. When I was still nursing it took several days for my patients to notice a change so hang in there.
BIL Kevin starts his chemo/radiation this week...it is a stressful time for all involved as he is not handling any of this well. Will keep you posted on that.
Weather here nasty starting tonight with 50mph winds and severe weather warnings...so keep us in your prayers.
Hugs to all,
Trudy

Oh, bother! So sorry to hear that you both are feeling bad, tired, and achy.

Hope today is better. If not, I suggest medicinal aides, a rocking chair, hot tea, a lap quilt, a sweet dog, and either music, a book, a movie, or TV. The world can wait for a day of pampering yourselves. Perhaps throw something in the Crock Pot so supper will be easy and the house will smell good all day.

Healing hugs!
