A Treasure-Filled Monday

PitcherI had a doctor's appointment yesterday just up the road from my favorite thrift store--so naturally, I stopped in to see what I could find. My best find was the ivy pitcher in the photo at left ($4). I love ivy, and I love pitchers. Won't this be pretty this summer filled with daisies?

While we're on this photo, I'll also tell you that the high chair belonged to my husband's grandfather (who was born in 1893) when he was a baby. Is that neat or what? And my mother made the crocheted doily that's hanging over the back of the chair.

I also like candlesticks, and I found these pretty wooden ones for $1 each.Candlesticks

But the best treasure of all that came into my possession yesterday is this bundle of polka dot fat quarters. I won them in a giveaway over at Sharon's Red Geranium Cottage.
Polka_dots I'm not sure what I'll do with them. I have a couple of idea. Idea One is to make teddy bears. The children's group at my church is going to collect teddy bears for police officers to carry in their cars for children who are victims of accidents or crimes. Idea Two is a Heart Quilt. I want one to hang in my foyer after Christmas and until spring. I could do both--or neither. We'll see. Anyway, thank you so much Sharon for your generosity. I love the fabrics.

RECIPES: For those who requested them, the recipes for the Chicken Corn Chowder and the Brunswick Stew can be found in the sidebar at right under "My Web Pages."
ALTERED PLAYING CARDS: I have fallen a bit behind in my altered playiing card challenge. I'm working on catching up and should have something posted today or tomorrow.
