Oh, Sweet Reed--my man! I can't believe I've let myself get so busy and distracted that I forgot to acknowledge your birthday here at Blackberry Creek. I didn't forget your birthday; I thought about you on Thursday, December 6, and remembered the day when I visited you in the hospital and held you for the very first time. You were very little and gnarly then; but I could tell right away that you were going to grow up to be the handsomest man around at 2.
Belated happy birthday, sweetie. Don't give Mommy and Daddy and Ma too much trouble during this milestone year. I refuse to say you're now a Terrible Two--You're a Terrific Two to me.

For his wonderful birthday, Reed got a Radio Flyer tricycle, a sock monkey in a wagon, a toy computer and another toy vacuum cleaner, which he calls "makin' the noise." He mastered the technique of tricycle riding immediately, and at bedtime he took his vacuum cleaner to bed with him.
